Grand Opening of Research and Development Center in Lam Dong, Vietnam
After nearly 15 years of accompanying Vietnamese agriculture and officially establishing a subsidiary since 2017, Rijk Zwaan continues to affirm its long-term investment commitment with the opening of a new Research and Development Center in Lam Dong - a key agricultural area. The facility promises to accelerate the development of vegetable and fruit varieties to meet the specific needs of the Southeast Asian market. The opening event took place in the joyful atmosphere of the 100th anniversary of Rijk Zwaan.
The R&D center will be a place to test and develop crop varieties that are well adapted to local conditions, from diverse climates and soils to modern farming systems in key agricultural areas of Vietnam and Southeast Asia.
Promoting sustainable agriculture
The official opening ceremony took place on 18-19 September with the participation of all Rijk Zwaan Vietnam and Southeast Asia employees, as well as many partners, government representatives, departments and customers.

Mr. Daniël Stork, Consult General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Ho Chi Minh City, shared: "The inauguration of the R&D Center is a testament to Rijk Zwaan's commitment to promoting sustainable agriculture in Vietnam. Through the application of technology and innovation, this R&D center will support growers to improve productivity, quality and resistance to pests and diseases, with the goal of transforming the agricultural sector towards modernity and sustainability, contributing to the benefits of Vietnamese farmers as well as partners in the value chain."
Mr. Pham S, Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, also expressed his joy: "Like other international enterprises in the region, Rijk Zwaan has made many positive contributions to the development of agriculture in Lam Dong Province. On behalf of the leadership of Lam Dong Province, we are very excited to witness the signing of the project's construction license on September 30, 2024, and now the inauguration ceremony of the R&D Center here on September 18, 2024."

Looking forward to the future
Mr. Dang Van Nien, Managing Director of Rijk Zwaan Vietnam, emphasized: "Farmers are always paying much attention to improve productivity, quality and sustainability. Modern cultivation techniques help growers control productivity by minimizing risks due to weather. The R&D station in Lam Dong will help us develop crop varieties suitable for local conditions, bringing benefits not only to farmers but also to the agricultural market in general."
